Job summary

Acorns Children's Hospice in Birmingham is seeking a Children's Palliative Clinical Lead to oversee a large multi-disciplinary team, develop programmes of care, and provide nursing care to children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

The role focuses on leading clinical practice, supervision of staff, and delivering compassionate end-of-life care, while advancing care initiatives and promoting child-centred communication with families.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or Paramedic with current registration.
• Non-medical prescriber, or willingness to undertake training.
• Demonstrated leadership in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience of palliative care in a pediatric context.
• Strong clinical skills including IV therapy, patient assessment and airway management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee supervision and development of a large multi-disciplinary team of nursing staff, students and support workers.
• Coordinate the clinical area, participate in direct patient care and staff supervision.
• Demonstrate expertise in symptom management and end-of-life care including after death care.
• Contribute to development and implementation of new initiatives and clinical practice improvements.
• Promote child and family communication, supporting expression of wishes and concerns.
