Job description

Jobs and careers with Coventry City Council

Earlsdon Primary School is a friendly and dynamic school with pupils who are enthusiastic, independent learners. We are very proud of them and of what they achieve both academically and personally. Everyone at Earlsdon works collaboratively to ensure that all children are given every opportunity to enjoy learning and to thrive in a happy, stimulating and vibrant community school.

Our school is situated in the heart of Earlsdon and is housed in a beautiful Victorian building which opened in 1890. The heritage and tradition give the school its heart and today the children enjoy a positive and innovative ethos with learning at its core.

We strive to ensure that teaching and learning is enhanced by high-quality experiences which enable our pupils to become confident, reflective and independent learners. Our curriculum is enriched by accessing many community resources and facilities, and by providing exciting and engaging learning experiences in school, in the local area and beyond.

We are looking for an outstanding HLTA with SEND responsibility to join our SEND team.

What is the job role?

You will take responsibility for leading our small team of SEND support staff. You will work with the SENDCO, teachers and external professionals to plan timetables, rotas and learning activities. You will also work directly with students with SEND, helping them with their academic work, social interactions, and emotional well-being.

We are looking for someone who is committed to ensuring that children with SEND are able to access the curriculum and make the best possible progress. You should be open to professional development, love learning and share our passion to keep innovating to provide better experiences and outcomes for all children. In return, we will guarantee the best possible professional development in the role to ensure you thrive in your chosen career.

This is the ideal opportunity for someone with proven SEND experience who is looking to move on to the next stage in their career and take a leadership role as we begin to create an exciting new inclusion offer.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an excellent candidate who:

  • Has proven SEND experience and has worked in SEND teams.
  • Be passionate about self-improvement and developing practice.
  • Believe wholeheartedly in ensuring all children achieve the very best.
  • Support our children in their academic as well as social and emotional development.
  • Be able to form strong, professional relationships with staff, pupils and parents.
  • Have experience working in a primary school setting.

In return, we can offer:

  • A wonderful school community.
  • Excellent opportunities for your development with a planned training programme.
  • A commitment to a successful work-life balance.
  • A supportive, forward-thinking leadership team who will listen and support your development.
  • A well-resourced and welcoming learning environment.
  • Free before and after school childcare for your children if they are pupils at our school.

A qualification in First Aid or willingness to train is essential.

Candidates who have not been contacted by the interview date will not have been shortlisted. Previous candidates need not reapply.

We welcome visits to the school, please telephone for an appointment.

We do not offer sponsorship for this role. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

Our workforce data shows that men and people from minority ethnic backgrounds are under-represented, we encourage applicants from these backgrounds to apply. This does not prevent individuals with or without other protected characteristics as set out within the Equality Act 2010 from applying for this post.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced criminal record check via the DBS, all relevant safeguarding and pre-employment clearances, and the receipt of two satisfactory references.

Following recommendations from Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) for an additional pre employment check with effect 1 Sept 22, please note, an online search may form part of this recruitment process.
