Job summary

The Education Network is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support students with SEMH at a small specialist school in Walsall. You will work with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver targeted learning, manage challenging behaviour and help students rebuild confidence for progression.

Experience with SEMH, challenging behaviour and Alternative Provision is essential. You will contribute to a supportive environment focused on student progress and safe learning, with DBS checks

Qualifications

• Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, Alternative Provision or excluded students is essential.
• Able to manage challenging behaviour calmly and consistently.
• Patient, resilient and consistent with a belief that young people can improve with support.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning for students with SEMH needs.
• Deliver lessons or learning activities in line with the teacher's plans.
• Provide targeted support to help students engage with education.
• Manage challenging behaviour calmly and consistently.
• Build positive relationships and promote mutual respect.
• Help students develop confidence, resilience and independence.
• Support students to improve behaviour, attendance and engagement.
• Monitor progress with teachers and pastoral staff.
• Help prepare students for a return to mainstream education where appropriate.
• Maintain a safe, structured and positive learning environment.
