Job summary

St Simon’s Catholic Primary School in Hazel Grove, Stockport, is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our faith-based primary school. You will work alongside teachers to deliver high-quality lessons, provide PPA cover, and support pupils with diverse learning needs within an inclusive Catholic ethos.

The role is 35 hours per week, term-time only, permanent, with a pro-rata NJC scale 5 salary (£23,902.60–£25,928.60).

Qualifications

• HLTA status or an equivalent Level 4+ qualification (or a degree with relevant classroom experience).
• Demonstrates high standards of literacy, numeracy, and strong classroom management skills.
• Supportive of Catholic ethos; respectful of all faiths/backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons and interventions across key stages under the direction of class teachers.
• Provide PPA cover and step in to teach classes during short-term teacher absences.
• Support pupils with diverse learning needs, including SEND, ensuring an inclusive environment.
• Assess, track, and report on pupil progress to support school-wide standards.
• Model positive behaviour and nurture pupils' spiritual and personal growth in line with school virtues.
