Job summary

Barnsole Primary School, part of the Maritime Academy Trust, seeks a passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team. This role supports whole-class teaching, delivers targeted support, and helps create an inclusive environment where every child can succeed.

You will deliver high-quality lessons during teacher PPA, support individuals and groups in literacy and numeracy, and collaborate with teachers to plan, assess and adapt learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or equivalent qualification.
• Experience planning and delivering primary lessons.
• Ability to lead whole-class sessions.
• Strong literacy and numeracy intervention background.
• Collaborative working style with high expectations.
• Committed to inclusion and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Deliver whole-class lessons during teacher PPA cover.
• Support individual pupils and small groups to access the curriculum.
• Deliver targeted literacy and numeracy support based on pupil need.
• Work closely with teachers to plan, assess and adapt learning opportunities.
• Foster positive relationships to build confidence, independence and a love of learning.
• Support behaviour for learning and contribute to an inclusive classroom environment.
• Take a proactive role in contributing to the wider life of the school.
