Job summary

Career Teachers in Sheffield is recruiting a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming school from September 2026.

The HLTA will deliver learning activities in the absence of the class teacher, support pupil progress across year groups, and lead targeted interventions with individuals or small groups.

You will work with teaching staff to plan, assess, monitor progress, uphold safeguarding, and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in primary or secondary school settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.
  • Proactive, flexible and positive approach to supporting learning.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver learning activities and lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Support pupil progress across a range of subjects and year groups.
  • Lead targeted interventions with individuals and small groups.
  • Assist with planning, preparation and assessment activities.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Support pupils with SEND where applicable.
  • Monitor and report pupil progress to teaching staff and senior leaders.
  • Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times.
