Job summary

Realise Education is recruiting an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEN primary school in Newham, East London. You will lead classes in the teacher's absence, support pupils with complex needs and manage challenging behaviour with calm, proactive strategies.

The role offers ongoing work, trial opportunities after October half term, and regular placements for successful candidates.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or demonstrable HLTA experience.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Lead classes and deliver pre-planned lessons in the teacher's absence.
• Support learning across primary age groups.
• Deliver targeted interventions and small-group learning activities.
• Support pupils with complex SEN and challenging behaviour.
• Implement positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and abilities.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Maintain a safe, structured classroom environment.
