St Leonard’s Church of England Primary School, Walton-le-Dale, Preston, Lancashire, PR5 4JL, is seeking a skilled HLTA KS2 for a fixed-term, part-time role (9:15am–12:05pm, Monday to Friday). The post involves taking a small KS2 group each morning and will be paid pro rata for term-time hours.

The successful candidate will have KS2 experience, strong communication skills and a commitment to the school’s Christian ethos.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Work with a small KS2 group under the class teacher.

Summary:

The Governing Body of St Leonard’s C of E Primary school are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, motivated and experienced teaching assistant to join our inspirational and dedicated team of staff.

This role is an exciting role covering all duties as outlined in the HLTA job description at St. Leonards CE Primary School and taking a small group of KS2 children each morning. The position is term time only, part time, and if successful the salary received will be paid on a pro rata basis. This is a fixed term position until 18th December 2026 covering vacant hours but may continue if required.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who:

  • Is an enthusiastic teaching assistant with a proven track record of work in a primary school setting and with KS2 experience.
  • Is motivated, patient, caring and considerate committed to children’s wellbeing.
  • Has excellent communication skills, is flexible and proactive in approach.
  • Enjoys contributing to a collaborative team.
  • Is able to build warm, nurturing, relationships with children and have high expectations of learning, achievement, progress and behaviour;
  • Has knowledge of the KS2 curriculum, and able to plan, and implement the curriculum alongside the class teacher.
  • Can undertake activities to support the personal, social and emotional needs of the children.
  • Is willing to engage in the wider aspects of school life.
  • Will work primarily with a small group of children implementing the curriculum. Carry out the duties as deemed appropriate to the grade.
  • Be committed to supporting the school’s Christian ethos and values.

This position is part time, term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro –rata basis.

Essential Qualifications
  • Grade A* - C at GCSE or O Levels/CSE in English & Maths (equivalent to A* - C GCSE)
Desirable Qualifications
  • Paediatric First Aid certificate
  • Teaching Assistant Qualification
Essential Experience
  • Experience of working with children and ability to relate well to children
  • Experience of leading teaching and learning throughout KS2
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to relate well to parents/carers
  • Ability to supervise and assist pupils
  • Organisational skills
  • Knowledge of classroom roles and responsibilities
  • Experience of working in KS2
