Job summary

Teaching Tomorrow is seeking an enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive primary school in Bedford. You will lead whole-class learning in the absence of a teacher and deliver targeted interventions to pupils with varying needs.

You will plan learning activities, assess progress, and work closely with teachers, parents and external agencies to support pupil achievement, safeguarding, and the wider life of the school community.

Qualifications

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification and experience.
  • Experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
  • The ability to motivate and inspire children to achieve their best.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.

Responsibilities

  • Lead whole-class learning activities in the absence of a teacher.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities under the direction of teaching staff.
  • Support the academic, social and emotional development of pupils.
  • Deliver targeted intervention programmes to individuals and small groups.
  • Assist in assessing, recording, and monitoring pupil progress.
  • Support pupils with SEND where required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain high expectations of all pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support pupil achievement.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school community.

Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a friendly and supportive primary school team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential and who can make a positive contribution to teaching and learning across the school.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and school leaders to support high-quality learning experiences for pupils. They will be confident in leading whole-class learning, delivering targeted interventions, and supporting pupils with a range of abilities and needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead whole-class learning activities in the absence of a teacher.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities under the direction of teaching staff.
