Job summary

Lancashire County Council is recruiting a Full-time HLTA for Dalton St Michael’s C of E Primary School in Wigan. The post supports Reception to Year 2, covering PPA when needed, and contributing to planning and assessment. Working hours are 8:30am–3:30pm (5pm on staff meeting days).

The role runs 1 November 2026 to 31 August 2027, funded accordingly. The ideal candidate holds an HLTA qualification; First Aid is desirable.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification required.
• First Aid Certificate desirable.
• Experience planning, teaching and assessing learning in line with curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Plan, teach and assess learning opportunities effectively in line with the school’s curriculum.
• Maintain a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment fostering enjoyment of learning.
• Adhere to school policy and procedures and be flexible to meet school needs.
• Cover PPA during some sessions and support Infant class teachers.
