Job summary

Burnley High School invites applications for a hardworking HLTA/cover supervisor. The post is term-time only (39 weeks per year) with a salary quoted as £28,197 to £31,981 per annum.

The role includes ensuring effective cover, supporting planning and assessment, and promoting inclusive learning across classes and groups. You will work under the Assistant Headteacher, assist with learning activities, and help pupils overcome barriers while supporting SENCO with LSAs/TAs.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at level 9-5.
• HLTA or related qualification (education) at level 4.
• Experience of using positive behaviour management techniques.
• Knowledge of The National Curriculum and Schemes of Work in Literacy and Numeracy.
• Knowledge of child development principles.
• Excellent written communication skills and ICT literacy.
• Experience of planning, preparing and delivering agreed work for individuals or groups.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the school is adequately resourced to provide effective cover supervision for lessons.
• Work under the Assistant Headteacher to implement planning and assessment, working with individuals or small groups to achieve progress.
• Support pupils to overcome barriers to learning, promote inclusion and develop communication, independence and social skills.
• Provide supervision and guidance and learning opportunities in non-lesson activities.
• Support the SENCO with day-to-day management of LSAs/TA.
• Complement teachers' work by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities.
