Job summary

Burnley High School invites applications for a hardworking HLTA/cover supervisor. The post is term-time only (39 weeks per year) with a salary quoted as £28,197 to £31,981 per annum.

The role includes ensuring effective cover, supporting planning and assessment, and promoting inclusive learning across classes and groups. You will work under the Assistant Headteacher, assist with learning activities, and help pupils overcome barriers while supporting SENCO with LSAs/TAs.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths at level 9-5.
  • HLTA or related qualification (education) at level 4.
  • Experience of using positive behaviour management techniques.
  • Knowledge of The National Curriculum and Schemes of Work in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Knowledge of child development principles.
  • Excellent written communication skills and ICT literacy.
  • Experience of planning, preparing and delivering agreed work for individuals or groups.

Your Role

Burnley High School wishes to appoint a hardworking, enthusiastic and committed HLTA (Cover Supervisor) working term time only (39 weeks per year). If you are experienced, enthusiastic, open to new ideas and have a flexible 'can do' approach, we would welcome an application from you. The actual salary for this position is £28,197 to £31,981 per annum.


The Job


  1. Ensure the school is adequately resourced so as to provide effective cover supervision/arrangements for lessons.

  2. To work under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher, to implement planning and assessment, working with individual or small groups of pupils in order to achieve high levels of accelerated pupil progress.

  3. To support pupils to overcome barriers to learning, promoting the inclusion of all pupils by developing their communication skills, supporting them to manage their behaviour, developing independence and social skills and to take responsibility for monitoring/reporting on the impact of class-based interventions.

  4. To provide supervision and guidance and learning opportunities in all non-lesson-based activities.

  5. Support the SENCO with the day to day management of the LSAs/TA.

  6. Complement the professional work of the schoolteachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities


What are the job requirements?


  1. GCSE or Equivalent qualification in English and Mathematics at level 9 - 5.

  2. Child Care/NVQ/ HLTA or other relevant qualification (related to education is desirable i.e.: a degree) at level 4

  3. Experience of using positive behaviour management techniques.

  4. Knowledge of The National Curriculum and Schemes of Work in Literacy and Numeracy.

  5. Knowledge of the principles of child development and processing of learning.

  6. Excellent written communication skills and a high level of ICT literacy.

  7. Experience of planning, preparing and delivering agreed work, and supporting programmes for individuals or groups of pupils.
