Job summary

Northern Star Academies Trust is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant for Denholme Primary School in Bradford. The role involves delivering high-quality teaching support, covering classes, and mentoring pupils requiring additional guidance to achieve their potential.

The post is permanent, 32.5 hours per week, term time plus two days, with a strong focus on pastoral care, behaviour interventions and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or equivalent experience.
• Proven track record working with pupils with challenging behaviour.
• Calm, resilient and solution-focused under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understands safeguarding and trauma-informed approaches.

Responsibilities

• Lead targeted interventions to improve behaviour, attendance and engagement.
• Build positive relationships with pupils needing extra support.
• Provide mentoring and pastoral guidance to help pupils overcome challenges.
• Collaborate with teachers, leaders, parents and external agencies to support pupils.
• Support school behaviour systems and maintain high expectations.
• Deliver learning activities and cover lessons as needed.
• Create a culture where every child feels safe, valued and able to succeed.
• Plan, prepare and deliver lessons; teach whole classes to cover absence and PPA.
