Job summary

Flourish Education is recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a one-form-entry primary school in Wolverhampton. The post covers EYFS, KS1 and KS2, leading lessons when needed and supporting pupil development.

The role starts October 2026 and runs to April 2027, with possible extension for the right candidate. £120 per day, pension contributions and ongoing CPD opportunities provided.

Qualifications

  • Hold a relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Confident leading a class independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Recent UK school-based experience.
  • DBS on Update Service or issued within last 12 months.
  • Minimum of two strong references.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging lessons across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 as required.
  • Deliver lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Support pupils' learning and development with class teachers and TAs.
  • Manage pupil behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Support learning through whole-class, small-group and 1:1 activities.
  • Follow lesson plans and school policies.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Contribute to pupils' progress and adapt activities for different year groups.

Job description

Flourish Education is currently recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work in a one-form-entry primary school based in Wolverhampton.

Our client is looking for a confident and experienced HLTA to work across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, providing support across the school and covering classes when required.

The role will involve working closely with class teachers and the wider school team to ensure pupils receive high-quality support and engaging learning opportunities. You will be expected to confidently lead lessons, support pupil progress and adapt your approach to meet the needs of different year groups.

The position will start in October 2026 and continue until April 2027, with the potential for the role to be extended beyond this date for the right candidate.

The Role

As an HLTA, you will be expected to:

  • Work across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, supporting different year groups as required.
  • Deliver engaging and creative lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Work alongside class teachers and Teaching Assistants to support pupils’ learning and development.
  • Effectively manage pupil behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with their learning through whole-class, small-group and 1:1 activities.
  • Follow lesson plans and school policies effectively.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff across the school.
  • Provide consistent support to pupils and contribute to their progress.
  • Adapt teaching and learning activities to meet the needs of different pupils and year groups.
Required Skills and Experience

To be considered for this HLTA role, you must:

  • Hold a relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Have experience working across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and/or Key Stage 2.
  • Have strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Be confident leading a class independently.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have experience working in a primary school setting.
  • Have recent UK school-based experience.
  • Hold a DBS on the Update Service, or have a DBS certificate that was issued within the last 12 months.
  • Be able to provide a minimum of two strong references.
