Connex Education Partnership is seeking a caring Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our specialist SEN school. This role focuses on pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities and complex needs, requiring personal care and compassionate support.

You will work closely with teachers and the multidisciplinary team to support learning, development, communication and wellbeing, ensuring a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment for all pupils.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, PMLD, physical disabilities or complex needs.
  • Caring, patient, resilient and genuinely passionate about making a difference.
  • Confident supporting pupils with significant physical and learning needs.

Responsabilités

  • Support pupils' learning, development, communication and wellbeing.
  • Lead and support learning activities independently and with teaching staff.
  • Provide individualised support to access the curriculum and help pupils reach personal goals.
  • Support pupils with communication, sensory and physical development.
  • Provide personal care including toileting, changing and other intimate care as required.
  • Follow moving and handling procedures to aid mobility and physical needs.
  • Contribute to creating a calm, stimulating and positive learning environment.
  • Support pupils' emotional wellbeing and encourage independence.
  • Assist with assessment, recording and monitoring of pupil progress.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Hours: Full-time long term Monday- Friday
School: SEN Primary school EYFS- KS2
Personal care: Required

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our specialist SEN school. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), physical disabilities and complex additional needs.

The successful candidate will be a confident and compassionate practitioner who is committed to providing high-quality education, care and support in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.

About the role

As an HLTA, you will work closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to support pupils' learning, development, communication and wellbeing.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with PMLD, physical needs and complex learning difficulties.
  • Leading and supporting learning activities, both independently and alongside teaching staff.
  • Providing individualised support to help pupils access the curriculum and achieve their personal goals.
  • Supporting pupils with communication, sensory and physical development.
  • Providing personal care, including toileting, changing and other intimate care as required.
  • Supporting pupils with mobility and physical needs, including following appropriate moving and handling procedures.
  • Helping to create a calm, stimulating and positive learning environment.
  • Supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing and encouraging independence wherever possible.
  • Contributing to assessment, recording and monitoring of pupil progress.

  • Has the confidence to take responsibility for leading learning and supporting colleagues.
