Job description

Title: HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) – SEND Support

Start Date: January 2026

Location: Seven Kings, Mainstream Primary School

Contract Type: Full-time / Term-time only

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HLTA to join our supportive team from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with SEND. The successful candidate will work primarily with a small group of around 6 students with diverse SEND needs, providing tailored support and interventions in a mainstream primary school setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver structured interventions and support learning activities for pupils with SEND
  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to plan, deliver, and assess individualised learning programmes
  • Monitor progress and contribute to reports, reviews, and planning meetings
  • Provide in‑class support and occasionally lead whole‑class sessions as required
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive
  • Liaise with parents/carers and external professionals as needed
Essential Requirements
  • HLTA qualification (must be completed and certified)
  • Proven experience working with children with SEND, ideally within a primary school setting
  • A strong understanding of inclusive education practices and SEND strategies
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting children’s development
  • Familiarity with EHCPs and intervention tracking
