Job summary

Academics is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Dinas Powys. You will lead lessons, manage a class when required and provide strong learning support, drawing on a robust LSA background.

The successful candidate will work with a dedicated team, follow safeguarding procedures and contribute to pupil progress across diverse learning needs. DBS and EWC compliance are essential.

Qualifications

  • HLTA/Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Enhanced DBS and safeguarding checks completed.
  • EWC registration or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead lessons and take responsibility for a class when required.
  • Deliver engaging and effective learning activities.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to support pupil progress.
  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support.
  • Use your LSA experience to support pupils with a range of learning needs.

  • Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
  • Assist with planning and preparation where required.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Dinas Powys

Academics are currently recruiting for an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a primary school in Dinas Powys from Monday - Friday each week.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HLTA who is confident leading a class, managing classroom behaviour and providing high-quality learning support. The successful candidate will also have strong experience working as an LSA and be comfortable taking responsibility for a class when required.

The Role
  • Lead lessons and take responsibility for a class when required
  • Deliver engaging and effective learning activities
  • Work closely with the class teacher to support pupil progress
  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support
  • Use your LSA experience to support pupils with a range of learning needs
  • Manage classroom behaviour confidently and consistently

We're Looking For
  • Previous experience working as an HLTA, LSA or experienced Teaching Assistant
  • Strong experience supporting pupils within a primary school
  • Confidence leading a class independently
  • Experience delivering lessons or planned learning activities
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm, confident and adaptable approach
  • Someone who can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Full-time availability
Requirements
  • Relevant HLTA/Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience
  • Enhanced DBS - essential
  • EWC registration - essential
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Relevant safeguarding and compliance checks
