Job summary

High Life Highland is seeking a proactive library assistant to support and promote a wide range of library and information services across the network.

You will work as part of a team to run events for all ages, lead Bookbug sessions, manage shelving and databases, help customers access resources, open and close libraries, and uphold HLH values including sustainability; a PVG check is required.

Responsibilities

• Promote a positive, collaborative workplace culture aligned with HLH values to boost morale and performance.
• Work as part of a team to deliver library and information services to everyone.
• Organise and assist with library events and promotions for all ages.
• Lead Bookbug sessions for young children.
• Undertake routines: shelving, processing and repairing stock.
• Input and check databases; maintain reservation systems.
• Help customers make best use of library resources, including e-resources.
• Open and close the library as required.
• Undertake other duties to ensure efficient library service across the network.
• Pursue continuous professional development and contribute to HLH improvements.
• Attend training online or in person.
• Aim to reduce wastage and uphold HLH environmental values in all tasks.
• Assist other HLH areas on projects or training; cross-functional work during holidays or sickness.
• Maintain awareness of risk management duties per HLH Risk Policy.
• A Disclosure Scotland PVG check is required.

• Undertaking any other duties as required to ensure efficient and effective service delivery across the library network.
• Pursue continuous professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of Library and High Life Highland as a whole.
• Attend and undertake any training online or in person.
• Aim to reduce wastage and uphold our environmental values of being as sustainable as possible in all tasks.
• Assist and support other areas of High Life Highland with particular projects, training or in the event of holidays or sickness working cross-functionally across the Library team.
• Maintain an awareness and knowledge of the risk management responsibilities appropriate to their role, as identified within the HLH Risk Policy and associated guidance documentation.
