Job summary

The University of Manchester Library seeks a Building Care and Operations Assistant for John Rylands Library. This 16-hour-per-week role offers Tue, Thu, Fri and Sat shifts from 8am to 12pm, supporting cleaning, portering, maintenance and events services in a Grade I listed building.

You will work as part of a small team, handle machinery and moving furniture, and receive in-house training in conservation cleaning methods.

Qualifications

• Team player with good communication.
• Willingness to perform physical tasks and assist with moving furniture.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and learn in-house cleaning methods.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cleaning, portering and maintenance support for the John Rylands Library.
• Support events and activities to create a safe, welcoming public space.
• Assist with contractor management, security and general building care.
• Operate machinery and ladders as required to perform duties.
