Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Exeter is seeking a Medical Technical Officer to join the Histology Department. The post involves supporting specimen reception, dissection and slide preparation, with responsibilities for archiving tissue and maintaining stock.

Training opportunities include tissue embedding and microtomy of histology blocks and megablocks, with potential progression to band 3 after in-house training. Working pattern is 37.5 hours, Mon-Fri.

Qualifications

• Competent Medical Technical Officer with an interest in histology, and willingness to learn in-house training.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the efficient running of specimen reception, dissection and slide preparation areas.
• Archive slides and tissue, maintain laboratory stock.
• Learn tissue embedding and microtomy of histology blocks and megablocks.
