Job summary

SYNLAB UK & Ireland seeks a Band 3 Medical Laboratory Assistant for its Histology team in Yeovil, with duties across tissue processing, data entry and referrals. You will work with laboratory scientists to uphold ISO15189 standards and ensure timely reporting.

Based in Yeovil with some travel to Taunton, the role offers training and development in a leading pathology service, powered by state-of-the-art digital pathology tools and a commitment to patient care.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 GCSEs including English and Maths, and at least one science subject.
NVQ3 or equivalent knowledge.
Experience in Biomedical techniques and working in a Biomedical laboratory.

Responsibilities

Assist in specimen reception and data entry using LIMS.
Provide technical skills for laboratory send away and referral service.
Rotate through laboratory areas to perform duties per procedures and safety rules.
Prepare and process clinical specimens for biomedical testing.
Maintain quality standards and adherence to ISO15189 guidelines.
Develop skills through ongoing professional development.
Section tissue using microtomy techniques.
