Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Exeter is seeking a Medical Technical Officer to join the Histology Department. The post involves supporting specimen reception, dissection and slide preparation, with responsibilities for archiving tissue and maintaining stock.

Training opportunities include tissue embedding and microtomy of histology blocks and megablocks, with potential progression to band 3 after in-house training. Working pattern is 37.5 hours, Mon-Fri.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a competent Medical Technical Officer to join our team of Scientists, based in Exeter Histology Department.

Following training the post holder will be expected to participate in the efficient running of specimen reception, dissection and slide preparation areas. There will also be slide and tissue archiving and maintenance of laboratory stock. The successful candidate will also be able to learn and develop skills such as tissue embedding and microtomy of histology blocks and megablocks.

Candidates with some knowledge of histological processes could be considered for trainee MTO band 2 positions with in-house training and progression to band 3 when training is complete.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours Monday-Friday 0830-1700
