Job summary

Permatt Forklift Trucks Ltd is seeking a proactive Hire Controller / Admin to join our Hebburn branch. You will coordinate hire enquiries, bookings, deliveries and collections, manage fleet availability and support office administration of the hire department.

You will be the central contact for customers seeking forklift hire, ensuring smooth operations, high service levels and accurate data across systems. The role demands strong organisation, communication and teamwork in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hire, logistics, rental or service coordination role.
• Excellent organisational and multitasking skills in a busy environment.
• Strong customer-service skills with clear, professional communication.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn internal systems.
• Strong team-player mindset with a solution-focused attitude under pressure.
• Familiarity with hire/rental management systems or CRM.

Responsibilities

• Handle incoming hire enquiries via phone and email – converting them into confirmed bookings.
• Prepare hire quotes, process bookings and generate all related paperwork.
• Schedule delivery and collection of equipment, monitor fleet availability and allocate appropriately.
• Liaise with the workshop team to ensure equipment is prepared, maintained and ready for hire.
• Update internal systems (hire management, CRM) and ensure accurate data on fleet status.
• Support service and field teams by assigning jobs and running service diary activities.
• Build relationships with customers, resolving queries promptly and professionally.
• Collaborate with service, sales and accounts to ensure a cohesive customer experience.
