About The Role

CUSTOMER SERVICES - IT'S A PEOPLE THING

Are you the type of person who enjoys regularly interacting with customers, offering support with enquiries, and seamlessly converting them into sales? If so, this could be the role for you. We are looking for Hire Controllers with excellent customer service skills who thrive in a busy operational environment to join our team and help us deliver our customer promise - to delight every customer, every time.

In the role of Hire Controller, you'll be responsible for delivering a best-in-class service while using product knowledge and expertise to maximise upselling opportunities. Your days will involve communicating with customers via telephone, email, and responding to website requests. You will manage an order from enquiry to post-hire feedback, taking ownership of the customer journey and building relationships with regular customers. For logistics, you will organise all jobs for the following day, allocating them to drivers. You will need to think on your feet and use your initiative to ensure we deliver the best experience for our customers and continue to improve our service.

This role is ideal for individuals from a customer service background, preferably with industry experience, who want to see and feel the impact of their work in a hands-on, highly operational, service-focused business.

To succeed in this role, you will bring the following skills and behaviours:

  • Proven experience in a customer service role, preferably handling inbound order/sales enquiries with successful transactions and satisfied customers
  • Experience in the hire or construction industry is advantageous but not essential
  • Experience in developing and utilising product knowledge, eager to understand our product range and the wider Sunbelt business
  • Exceptional communication skills, including negotiation and influencing, with the ability to engage and build relationships with internal and external customers
  • Good judgment and initiative to make decisions aligned with company policies and pricing structures
  • Supportive, collaborative team approach
  • Flexible and adaptable, capable of managing multiple tasks, deadlines, and targets in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, suggesting and acting on process and service enhancements
  • Proficiency in MS Office and enthusiasm for learning new IT systems and leveraging technology in your role
