Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Working Construction Supervisor for the Civils team at the Hinkley Point C site in Bridgwater. You will lead from the front, supervise operatives, and drive safe, quality-focused delivery on a major UK infrastructure project.

You’ll coordinate day-to-day site activities, champion safety, and resolve issues to keep work progressing to programme. This role is on-site, outdoors, and fast-paced.

Qualifications

• SSSTS qualification or equivalent on-site safety training.
• Experience supervising site operatives and coordinating daily activities.
• Strong health and safety knowledge within a construction environment.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities on site.
• Practical understanding of civil engineering and groundworks.

Responsibilities

• Supervise site operatives and coordinate activities including excavation, pipe-laying, plant operations, groundworks and concreting.
• Ensure construction activities are completed safely, efficiently and to quality requirements.
• Monitor progress against targets and help the team deliver work to programme.
• Champion health, safety and wellbeing, building awareness across the workforce.
• Lead by example and create a safety-first working environment.
• Manage interfaces with other teams and departments to keep work progressing smoothly.
• Build relationships and help resolve site and technical issues quickly.
• Provide practical guidance and technical advice to operatives when required.
• Motivate the team and uphold high standards of workmanship and accountability.
• Work outdoors in a fast-paced construction environment with daily challenges.

Are you an experienced construction professional who enjoys being out on site, leading from the front and getting the best from a team?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Civils Construction team at Hinkley Point C, working on one of the largest and most high-profile infrastructure projects in the UK.
As a Working Construction Supervisor, you'll combine hands-on construction knowledge with team leadership. You'll oversee operatives, coordinate day-to-day site activities and make sure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Experience & Skills:

• Relevant construction site supervisory experience.
• A Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) qualification.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety within a construction environment.
• Experience supervising site operatives and coordinating day-to-day construction activities.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• A practical understanding of civil engineering and groundworks activities.
• The confidence to challenge unsafe practices and promote positive safety behaviours.
• A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective relationships with different teams and disciplines.
