Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Working Construction Supervisor for Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater. The role leads on-site operations, supervising operatives and coordinating day-to-day activities to ensure safe, timely and quality delivery.

You will oversee excavation, pipe-laying and groundworks, driving a strong safety culture while coordinating with multiple teams and disciplines on a major UK infrastructure project.

• SSSTS qualification and site supervision experience
• Strong health and safety knowledge on construction sites

Responsibilities

• Supervise site operatives and coordinate activities including excavation, pipe-laying, plant operations, groundworks and concreting.
• Ensure construction activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with policies, procedures and quality requirements.
• Monitor progress against targets and help the team deliver work to programme.
• Champion health, safety and wellbeing across the workforce and reduce accidents.
• Lead by example and create a safety-first working environment.
• Manage interfaces with other teams and departments to keep work progressing smoothly.
• Provide practical guidance and technical advice to operatives when required.
• Motivate the team and maintain high standards of workmanship and accountability.

Are you an experienced construction professional who enjoys being out on site, leading from the front and getting the best from a team?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Civils Construction team at Hinkley Point C, working on one of the largest and most high-profile infrastructure projects in the UK.

As a Working Construction Supervisor, you'll combine hands-on construction knowledge with team leadership. You'll oversee operatives, coordinate day-to-day site activities and make sure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Experience & Skills:

• Relevant construction site supervisory experience.
• A Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) qualification.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety within a construction environment.
• Experience supervising site operatives and coordinating day-to-day construction activities.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• A practical understanding of civil engineering and groundworks activities.
• The confidence to challenge unsafe practices and promote positive safety behaviours.
• A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective relationships with different teams and disciplines.
