Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an Associate Engineer to provide technical leadership across highways and transport infrastructure projects, from concept through construction. You will manage a small team, engage clients, and help grow the Manchester office with cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The role requires Chartered status (CEng) and a strong grasp of DMRB, MfS, and local authority standards, plus proficiency in Civil 3D, OpenRoads, MX or AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Chartered (CEng) with solid highways/transport delivery experience.
• Strong knowledge of DMRB, MfS and local authority standards.
• Excellent client-facing communication and stakeholder influence.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of highways and transport infrastructure projects.
• Oversee feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed designs, and reports.
• Provide project management including budget and programme control.
• Act as primary client liaison and build trusted relationships.
• Ensure designs comply with DMRB and local standards.
• Support business development through bids and presentations.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians.
