Job summary

Kier Group in the UK is seeking a Technology Design Engineer to join our Technology Design team. Based in Manchester/Newcastle or Birmingham, with hybrid working, the role focuses on designing highways technology solutions across ITS, communications, power and digital infrastructure.

You will develop, coordinate and assure designs that are compliant, buildable and aligned to client requirements, working within multidisciplinary teams on major UK projects.

Qualifications

• Degree (or working towards) in Electrical, Electronic, Communications or Technology Engineering.
• Experience in highways or infrastructure technology design.
• Familiar with National Highways standards (DMRB/TA401).
• Experience with ITS, communications or digital infrastructure systems.
• Knowledge of ITS, telecoms/IP networks, and power/control systems.
• Experience using CAD or digital engineering tools.
• Strong problem-solving and ability to meet deadlines.
• Clear communication and collaborative stakeholder approach.

Responsibilities

• Deliver technology design across ITS, communications, power and digital infrastructure.
• Produce drawings, specs and technical documentation (2D/3D).
• Ensure compliance with DMRB, National Highways and industry standards.
• Apply design assurance and support gateway compliance.
• Identify and mitigate technical risk for right-first-time delivery.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to bids, innovation and digital engineering.
