Job summary

Marlborough Highways is seeking an experienced Highways Supervisor to join the Havering contract team. You will lead safe, compliant delivery of highway maintenance and improvement works across the borough, coordinating operational teams, subcontractors and the client to meet quality standards and programme timescales.

You will be responsible for RAMS, site inductions, and ensuring adherence to health and safety policies, reporting on performance KPIs, and supporting continuous improvement

Qualifications

• NRSWA, SSSTS and CSCS are required qualifications.
• Experience supervising highway maintenance works is essential.
• Strong focus on health and safety and contract compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe completion of allocated highway sites and ensure compliance.
• Prepare and monitor RAMS, inductions and inspections.
• Organise labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to deliver works.
• Monitor quality and performance, deliver KPIs and SLAs.
• Record activities in contract management systems and report anomalies.

Job description

Marlborough Highways has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Highways Supervisor to join our Havering contract team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of highway maintenance and improvement works across the borough. Working closely with operational teams, subcontractors and the client, you will ensure works are delivered to the required quality standards, within agreed timescales and in line with contractual, commercial and Health & Safety obligations. The role will play a key part in achieving contract performance targets, maintaining excellent customer service, driving operational efficiency and supporting the successful delivery of the contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safe operation of allocated sites, ensuring compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
• Prepare, implement and monitor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
• Conduct depot and site inductions, weekly Health, Safety and Environmental inspections, and ensure safe working practices are maintained.
• Organise and manage labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors and operational teams to support the effective delivery of the contract.
• Issue work orders, permits and site instructions as required.
• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with contract requirements, specifications, drawings, procedures and programme timescales.
• Review drawings, site instructions, works orders and contract documentation, reporting any anomalies or missing information.
• Monitor and maintain the quality, productivity and performance of employees and subcontractors, promoting a right-first-time approach.
• Deliver contract KPIs and service level agreements, ensuring works are completed within agreed response times and programme requirements.
• Carry out quality assurance inspections and support asset inspections and condition surveys.
• Escalate defects, risks and service failures appropriately and support emergency response and out-of-hours activities when required.
• Assist in the management of customer enquiries, member enquiries and client complaints.
• Utilise contract management systems to record, monitor and report operational activities.
• Support the Contract Manager and Operations Manager in achieving operational, commercial and contractual objectives.

• Prior supervisory experience ideally within a Highways setting
• Understanding of Highways term maintenance contracts
• Confident generating and delivery a variety of MI on a monthly basis
• Driving Licence
• Strong background in working in accordance to Health and safety policies and procedures
