Job summary

Balfour Beatty Highways is seeking a Sub Agent to join the A66 NTP Scheme based in Penrith, Cumbria. You will support delivery, safety, sustainability, and performance of the works while leading a team and coordinating with designers, subcontractors and clients.

The role requires strong safety leadership, effective communication, and a proactive, results-driven approach to problem solving in a major highways project environment.

Qualifications

• Clear communication of safe system of work requirements
• Ability to lead and manage a team with clear messages
• Willingness to work unsociable hours/nights
• Ability to work on own initiative and identify opportunities
• Valid driving license and CSCS card; SSSTS or SMSTS qualification
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Solution-oriented approach to issue resolution

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of CSUK’s Sustainability activities
• Motivate team and manage performance; monitor competency and provide coaching
• Review method statements and risk assessments; drive improvements
• Lead accident/incident investigations and trend analysis
• Provide field audits and ensure control documentation sufficiency
• Produce and implement permits to work; manage temporary works
• Coach subordinates in technical set-out and problem resolution
• Own the handover documentation process and ensure conformance
• Produce fully resourced stage programmes and monitor KPI performance
• Manage subcontractors and budgets; draft correspondence to subcontractors and clients
