Job summary

Manchester City Council is seeking a proactive Highways Streetworks & Licensing Inspector to ensure highway works and licensing across Manchester meet safety, legal and statutory standards. You will support the Network Management Team to keep the city moving, protect road users and support transport priorities.

You will inspect works, process licences, maintain records, and work with contractors and residents to resolve compliance issues while ensuring proper permits and traffic management are

Qualifications

• Experience interpreting procedures, regulations or legislation in operations or compliance.
• Ability to communicate clearly with customers, contractors and stakeholders.
• Proven ability to maintain accurate records and manage priorities with judgement.
• Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for business use.
• Willingness to obtain Street Works Qualification and relevant training.

Responsibilities

• Inspect highway reinstatements and licensed occupations for compliance with legislation and licence conditions.
• Process and authorise highway licence applications, advising applicants and stakeholders.
• Maintain inspection and enforcement records using ICT and mobile technology.
• Collaborate with contractors, residents and others to ensure safe delivery of highway works.
• Support planned and reactive highway works with proper permits and traffic arrangements.
