Job summary

West Sussex County Council is seeking a motivated Highway Steward to help deliver a safe highway network across the county. The role includes responding to customer enquiries, inspecting and repairing highways, and enabling community groups to undertake local projects.

You will also travel across the county with hybrid working arrangements as required. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, strong problem-solving abilities, a drive for customer service, and a teamwork

Qualifications

• Full current driver's licence.
• Knowledge of the Highways Act, NRSWA and related legislation.
• Good IT skills.
• Experience working in a team to meet objectives.
• Proven customer service & community engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer enquiries and resolve highway issues promptly.
• Plan and prioritise work efficiently across the county.
• Travel around the county to inspect and repair highways.
• Support community groups to undertake highway-related projects.
