Job summary

Sphere Solutions is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our highways maintenance team in the West Midlands. You will lead commercial and administrative functions under NEC-based contracts, liaising with clients and overseeing payments, WIP, and subcontractor management.

The role requires a degree or HND in Quantity Surveying (desirable) with a strong track record as a managing/senior QS in construction, especially highways.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or related subject (desirable).
• Strong commercial experience as a Managing or Senior QS within construction.
• Experience in highways maintenance, NEC contracts preferred.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
• Strong organisational skills and MS Office proficiency.
• Experience with Causeway, Confirm, and Oracle is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maximise and protect the company's commercial position by managing commercial and administrative functions per contract terms.
• Liaise with the client on commercial issues and auditing enquiries.
• Actively manage Work in Progress to acceptable levels.
• Manage Subcontractors, including issuing payments and notices.
• Organise and lead monthly CVR meetings with Commercial and Operational teams.
• Manage change control including CE's, EW's, and Star Rates.
• Provide contractual and measurement advice to Operations and Commercial teams.
• Support the Commercial Manager in administering the monthly Application for Payment.
• Assist in developing the team.
