Would you like to be part of our friendly, welcoming Area 5 Highways team, proud to manage all aspects of the highway network in and around Skipton?
Our area includes the historic market town of Skipton, often referred to as the "Gateway to the Dales," as well as picturesque villages such as Grassington, Malham, and Kettlewell, nestled within the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park. Join us in helping to keep this beautiful and vital region moving safely and efficiently.
The Role
We offer hybrid work with a mixture of working from home and from our offices in Skipton. Your role may also involve being out and about to oversee specific projects and engage with local communities.
You would be part of a strong team of project engineers reporting to the Improvement Manager. You’d also work alongside highway officers reporting to the Maintenance Manager, our Highways Customer Communications Officer, Area Manager, and business support colleagues.
Could you help us:
An excellent candidate eligible to join us on Grade JK would have either HNC Civil Engineering or equivalent and some experience delivering parts of the work described above.
We also consider suitable applicants with transferable skills who may not yet have the exact qualifications or experience. They would need relevant qualifications and ambition to begin technical training, such as entry to HNC Civil Engineering via day release. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, along with a teamwork and negotiation mindset, are essential.
