Job summary

Balfour Beatty Living Places is seeking a Project Manager to lead highways maintenance and third-party works, ensuring safe delivery and high standards. You will manage client relationships, coordinate resources, and drive continuous improvement across a diverse project portfolio.

The role requires strong delivery knowledge, stakeholder management, and a proactive, flexible approach to project delivery. On-site work with opportunities for smart working where possible.

Qualifications

• Experience within highways maintenance, civil engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong operational and project delivery knowledge.
• Excellent stakeholder and client management skills.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs, KPIs, and service levels.
• Experience managing programmes of work and coordinating multiple priorities.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate teams while building collaborative working relationships.
• Ability to interpret drawings and technical information.
• Proactive and flexible approach to project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safe delivery of highways maintenance and third-party works projects.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors.
• Manage programmes of work; deliver on time and within budget.
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractor resources.
• Oversee projects from planning through to completion and handover.
• Monitor project performance and drive continuous improvement.
• Support winter maintenance and service delivery when required.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with all requirements.
• Provide clear communication to operational teams and project stakeholders.
