Job summary

Colas Ltd’s Portsmouth depot is seeking a Permit Officer to review and manage highway permits and works, coordinating with utilities, contractors, and internal teams to minimise disruption. You will assess proposed works, monitor compliance, and apply appropriate permit conditions under the Traffic Management Act and related regulations.

The role requires experience in highway engineering or street works coordination, with strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

• Experience in highway network management or street works coordination.
• Knowledge of Traffic Management Act (TMA) and related regulations.
• CSCS and NRSWA qualifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Review and process permit applications and notices within set timescales.
• Coordinate with utilities, contractors and internal teams to minimise disruption.
• Identify conflicts and ensure compliance with statutory controls and quality standards.
• Maintain records, attend meetings and respond to public inquiries.
