Job summary

Cumberland Council is seeking a Highways Network Officer to join our Highways Service, helping to design, deliver and manage improvement and maintenance schemes across the county. You will undertake surveys, produce specifications and supervise works on highways, footways and cycleways.

With a relevant degree or NVQ Level 5 and strong technical knowledge of highways, you will manage projects, support winter operations, and provide advice to colleagues, contractors and elected members while

Qualifications

• A relevant degree or NVQ Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience).
• Strong technical knowledge of highways maintenance and design.
• Experience managing projects and working with customers, contractors and elected members.

Responsibilities

• Undertake surveys and prepare specifications for highway works.
• Supervise works on highways, footways and cycleways.
• Support winter maintenance operations.
• Provide technical advice to colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
• Contribute to project planning and asset management.
• Ensure works are delivered safely on time and within budget.
• Collaborate and adapt to changing priorities across teams.
