Job summary

Amey is recruiting a permanent Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Area 7 team in Leicester, working on-site at Leicester Forest East. You will contribute to maintaining busy motorways and highways across the East Midlands, ensuring safe journeys for thousands of daily travelers.

The role involves 45 hours per week across Monday to Friday (with day and night shifts), driving and operating vehicles, carrying out safety checks, and supporting site management with paperwork and safety

Qualifications

• Full driving licence, Class C HGV with CPC (Essential)
• Familiar with permits to dig, Cat & Genny (Essential)
• Experienced working outdoors in challenging weather conditions (Essential)
• CSCS card (desirable)
• Experience with backfilling / reinstatement (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Maintaining high standards of workmanship
• Attending project and safety briefings as required
• Driving/operating vehicles/plant requiring general and specialist skills including vehicle checks, routine maintenance and cleaning
• Taking responsibility for the safety of yourself and others within your team to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation
• Keeping records and completing all necessary paperwork
• Assessment, deployment and removal of suitable pedestrian and traffic management
• Site management, sign cleaning, drainage works
• Litter picking and reactive works
• Safety fence repairs, patching, sign installs repairs, winter maintenance and incident response
