Job summary

VolkerHighways is offering a full-time Level 2 Highways Maintenance Apprenticeship in Medway, starting October 2026. You will learn on the job while working toward a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification, attending college blocks with overnight accommodation provided.

You’ll join project teams across the south of the UK, gain practical site skills, and receive structured training, mentoring and a benefits package including pension, retail discounts and 23 days paid annual leave.

Qualifications

• No prior construction experience required; full training provided.
• Attendance at college blocks with on-site learning.
• Commitment to completing training and obtaining CSCS if not held.

Responsibilities

• Assist with kerb laying, footway works, drainage repairs, and civils tasks.
• Learn to perform tasks safely and to the required standard.
• Operate tools and equipment safely with training and authorisation.
• Attend training blocks and apply learning on site.
• Follow health, safety, wellbeing and environmental procedures.
• Keep work areas tidy and safe, report hazards and near misses.
• Represent VolkerHighways professionally on site.
