Job summary

Central Bedfordshire Council is seeking a Career Grade Highways Technical Officer to join the Highways Finance team. You will manage the day-to-day administration of Highways Agreements, including Section 278 and 38, and support the Vehicle Crossover and EV charging schemes.

The role requires GCSEs in English and Maths, excellent communication, and accuracy in a busy public-facing environment. Training will be provided; a driving licence is essential, and hybrid working is offered.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 or above.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Experience in a busy, public-facing or office environment.
• Keen to learn and able to work collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Administering the Highways Agreement service, including the technical processes associated with Section 278 and Section 38 agreements.
• Managing the technical administration of the Vehicle Crossover (VXO) and Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging schemes.
• Monitoring income, raise invoices and purchase orders, and proactively manage outstanding debts.
• Providing flexible support to the Highways team.
