Job summary

Amey is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join the Consulting Highways team in Manchester. You will support the Design and Development team, lead junior engineers, and deliver highway projects ranging from junction improvements to new roads and bridges.

The role requires strong technical and client-facing skills, with opportunities for professional development and chartership support as part of Amey's commitment to staff growth.

Qualifications

• Experience in highway engineering and local roads.
• Ability to work in a commercial and customer-focused way to meet programme and income targets.
• Able to supervise junior staff and check colleagues' work.
• Good understanding of Manual for Streets, DMRB, and other national standards.

Responsibilities

• Produce technically sound engineering solutions and supervise junior staff.
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and scheme deliverables to quality, cost and programme.
• Liaise with client and supplier representatives at peer level and attend progress meetings.
• Manage a small, locally based single-discipline technical team and deliver workload.
• Contribute to bids and the general work-winning function.
• Work on site, on a visiting basis or full-time but in a temporary role, including out-of-hours work.
