Job summary

Calderdale Council invites applications from experienced highway engineers to join its Traffic Engineering Team. You will help deliver highway safety improvements, sustainable transport schemes and public realm projects across Calderdale.

Based in West Yorkshire, the role offers hybrid/flexible working and a competitive salary with an excellent pension. You will contribute to CRSTS-funded and other highway projects, mentored by senior colleagues and collaborating with internal and external

Qualifications

• Proven experience in highway design and safety improvements.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and local authority procedures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated during engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design solutions for highway safety and improvement schemes.
• Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and governance.
• Manage work programming, estimating, supervision and progress reporting.
• Provide technical advice to elected Members, colleagues and the public.
• Collaborate with internal services, developers, consultants and external stakeholders.
• Mentor trainees and other staff.
