Job summary

Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking experienced highway engineers to join the Traffic Engineering Team in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. You will help design and deliver highway safety improvements, sustainable transport initiatives and public realm enhancements.

The role focuses on delivering schemes from concept to implementation, influencing highway safety, economic growth and wider environmental objectives. Hybrid/flexible working and a strong pension are offered.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in traffic engineering.
• Strong knowledge of legislation, standards and local authority procedures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience delivering engineering projects from concept through to implementation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design solutions and develop highway safety improvement schemes.
• Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and program work.
• Estimate, supervise and report on scheme progress.
• Provide technical advice to elected Members, colleagues and the public.
• Collaborate with internal services, developers, consultants and external stakeholders.
• Mentor trainees and other staff; progress Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs).
