Job summary

Barnet Council invites applications for a Development Control Engineer to assess highway impacts of development proposals and provide technical approval under the Highways Act. The role requires daily site involvement, negotiation of legal agreements, and liaison with developers, consultants and residents to deliver safe, sustainable infrastructure in the borough.

You should have ONC/HNC or degree in Civil/Highway Engineering, plus at least two years’ post-graduate experience in highways or

Qualifications

• Minimum ONC/HNC or higher in Civil/Highway Engineering.
• Two years’ post-graduate highway/development control experience.
• Experience with Section 38/278 schemes and highway adoption.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage highway impacts of development proposals.
• Provide technical approvals and professional advice to developers.
• Monitor highway works and ensure compliance with designs.
• Represent the Highway Authority at meetings and maintain records.
