Brackenberry Ltd is assisting a local authority in Barnet to appoint a Development Control Engineer on a 12-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension at the client's discretion. The role focuses on providing professional highways and engineering advice related to planning applications, development proposals and highway infrastructure schemes.

Responsibilities include assessing planning applications from a highways perspective, reviewing designs and managing Section 38/278 schemes,

Qualifications

ONC/HNC or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Engineering or a related discipline.
Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) in highways, civil engineering or a related field.
At least two years' relevant post-qualification experience in highways, civil engineering, transportation, development control or related field.

Responsibilities

Assess the highway and transport implications of planning applications and development proposals.
Manage a caseload of highway development control applications and agreements, ensuring they are progressed efficiently and in accordance with relevant legislation and Council procedures.
Review highway designs, technical drawings, specifications, construction details and supporting documentation for compliance with relevant standards and requirements.
Ensure all activities comply with relevant highways legislation, Council policies, technical standards, health and safety requirements, data protection and governance procedures.
