Job summary

Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Engineer to join the Traffic Engineering Team in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. You will deliver highway safety improvements, sustainable transport schemes and public realm works, contributing to economic growth and wider environmental objectives.

The role offers a competitive salary (£41,771 - £45,091 per annum, pay award pending), 37 hours per week, and hybrid/flexible working with family-friendly policies.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in highway design.
• Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and local authority procedures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience delivering engineering projects from concept through to implementation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Preparing design solutions and develop innovative and practical highway safety and improvement schemes.
• Ensuring that the Council complies with legislative requirements, Undertake work programming, estimating, supervision and reporting on scheme progress.
• Provide technical advice to elected Members, colleagues and members of the public.
• Work collaboratively with internal services, developers, consultants and external stakeholders.
• Mentor trainees and other staff.
