Job summary

Ringway Jacobs in Congleton seeks an experienced Construction Team Leader to drive major and minor highways improvement schemes from planning through to completion.

You will coordinate internal teams, designers, and external contractors, ensuring safety, quality and budget compliance across NEC-based contracts. The role requires strong leadership, risk management and excellent stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience leading construction or highways projects in a supervisory/leadership role.
• Knowledge of construction procedures, industry standards and best practice guidance.
• Familiarity with CDM Regulations and health and safety legislation.
• Understanding of highway legislation and practical application.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and external contractors.
• Strong planning, budgeting and organisational skills.
• Ability to assess and manage project risks effectively.
• Excellent IT skills and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of complex highways improvement and capital works projects from inception through to completion.
• Coordinate supervisors, operatives, designers, contractors and supply chain partners to ensure successful project delivery.
• Manage project budgets, cost forecasts and change control processes in line with NEC contract requirements.
• Develop and maintain detailed construction programmes, identifying critical paths, risks and opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with utilities, landowners and local communities.
• Lead project risk management activities and ensure mitigation plans are implemented.
• Oversee traffic management plans, design reviews and buildability assessments.
• Monitor supply chain performance through KPIs, audits and meetings.
• Uphold high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and quality.
