• Deliver start-of-shift briefings, manage vehicle/pedestrian plans, and enforce H&S and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate daily activities with contracts managers and site teams to programmed schedules and productivity targets.
• Ensure coated and asphalt materials meet project specifications and BS tolerances.
• Oversee pre-start checks, daily inspections, and safe operation of heavy surfacing plant (pavers, rollers, planers, chippers).
• Complete daily paperwork, shift reports, QA records and handovers.

The Northern Area team require a Highways Civil Engineering Team Leader to lead a team of Skilled Operatives as part of the resurfacing Team.

What you’ll be doing:

• Crew & Site Supervision: Lead and monitor the surfacing crew and sub-contractors across active highways or construction sites.
• Health & Safety (H&S):Deliver start-of-shift briefings, vehicle and pedestrian management plans, and enforce H&S requirements and environmental regulations.
• Planning & Coordination: Coordinate daily activities with contracts managers and site teams, working to programmed schedules and productivity targets.
• Quality Control: Ensure coated and asphalt materials are laid accurately to project specifications and British Standard (BS) tolerances.
• Plant & Equipment:Oversee pre-start checks, daily inspections, and safe operation of heavy surfacing plant (such as pavers, rollers, planers, and chippers).
• Administration & Reporting: Complete daily paperwork, shift reports, quality assurance (QA) records, and handovers.
