Northumberland County Council is seeking a Highways Civil Engineering Team Leader to steer a resurfacing crew and oversee subcontractors across active highways. You will ensure health & safety, quality control, and timely delivery against programme targets.

Responsibilities include daily planning, site supervision, and reporting, with a focus on BS tolerances and safe operation of surfacing plant. The role requires leadership, budgeting awareness, and knowledge of highways regulations.

Qualificações

• Knowledge of highways works and current legislation
• Ability to lead a team
• Ability to operate within budget allocations

Responsabilidades

• Lead and monitor the surfacing crew and sub-contractors across active highways or construction sites.
• Deliver start-of-shift briefings, vehicle and pedestrian management plans, and enforce H&S requirements and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate daily activities with contracts managers and site teams, working to programmed schedules and productivity targets.
• Ensure coated and asphalt materials are laid accurately to project specifications and BS tolerances.
• Oversee pre-start checks, daily inspections, and safe operation of heavy surfacing plant (pavers, rollers, planers, chippers).
• Complete daily paperwork, shift reports, QA records, and handovers.
