Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Site Agent to lead day-to-day construction on a major highways scheme in Ballinluig, Perthshire. You will oversee site operations, subcontractors and engineers, ensuring delivery on time, to budget and to the required standards.

You will manage health and safety, coordinate earthworks and drainage, and work closely with the Project Manager and commercial team to support overall project performance.

Qualifications

• Experience as Site Agent or similar site management role in civil engineering.
• Strong background in highways construction on major infrastructure schemes.
• Experience managing subcontractors, site engineers and construction teams.
• Good understanding of NEC contracts, programmes and commercial processes.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements in civil engineering.
• SMSTS and CSCS qualifications.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills.
• Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for day-to-day construction activities on a major highways project, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to required quality.
• Coordinate site operations across key elements of the scheme.
• Oversee subcontractors, engineers and site teams to align with the construction programme.
• Monitor progress against milestones, identify risks and implement solutions to maintain delivery.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Coordinate activities involving earthworks, drainage, highways construction, structures and related infrastructure.
• Work with Project Manager and commercial team to monitor costs, resources, and commercial performance.
• Ensure quality assurance procedures, inspections and project documentation are completed to standards.
• Attend progress meetings and liaise with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum - Dependent on Experience

What You'll Be Doing

What You'll Need

To be successful in this Site Agent position, you will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a Site Agent or in a similar site management role within civil engineering.
• A strong background in highways construction, ideally gained on major infrastructure schemes.
• Experience managing subcontractors, site engineers and construction teams.
• A good understanding of NEC contracts, construction programmes and commercial processes.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements within civil engineering.
• SMSTS and CSCS qualifications.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
